Parev Emirates welcomes Garbis Kesisoglu

Garbis Kesisoglu, who lives between Germany and Florida (USA), has been for many years Media Consultant of Hurriyet Newspaper, one of the leading Turkish newspapers.

A graduate of the Technical University of Munich, Germany in 1960 (Dipl. Ing. Fachhochschulen), he has been involved in the newspaper industry for over 40 years. Kesisoglu is a newspaper project consultant at IFRA, the world's largest association of newspapers, based in Darmstadt, Germany with branches in various regions all over the world.
 
Parev Emirates met Garbis Kesisoglu on his way back to Europe from a business trip to Asia.

We will publish an interview with the guest in due course.

The children of the "Sunday School" celebrated the New Year and Christmas in a unique way. Santa came on a special pick up vehicle. 

Earlier, the children attended the Holy Mass celebration in the church and learnt about the meaning of Jesus Christ's birth.

According to Today.az website, the Azerbaijani community in the UAE has sent a letter of protest to the well-known European news channel Euronews, protesting against a documentary aired on 28 November 2009, with the topic the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh.

The letter reads: "After viewing the video report Winds of change in Nagorno Karabakh, the Azerbaijani community would like to express its protest and disagreement with the false content that was presented by your journalists."

Then it goes explaining the Azeri viewpoint about the Armenians and the history of Karabakh. The letter ends saying: "We demand changes to be made to this video report to correct all the errors made..."

A group of Armenian children took part in the Christmas concert, organized annually by the Russian Music Center to display the progress of the students.

Vana Segian, Nanor Katerjian, Arman Kalsahakian, Janett Bedrjikian, Sylvie Sekian and Maria Giragosian performed works by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Schubert, Anderson, Haydn and deserved the applause of the audience in the Concert Hall of the Center on 17 December 2009.

The parents were pleased to see the outcome of a semester’s hard work.

Several parents referred to their repeated appeals to the Council of the Armenian Community to arrange classes in the Armenian center in Sharjah, so that the children get musical education in a familiar environment and practice on works of Armenian authors.

“The Council is good at preparing short term activities, especially commemorative events or backgammon and blot games, but this kind of musical courses need long, wise and professional planning”, commented a displeased parent.

On 21 November 2009, Azad-Hye welcomed Aram and Satenik Avakian, who visited the Armenian Church in Sharjah and received first hand information about our institutions and community life.

Father Aram Deyirmendjian accompanied the couple in their tour inside the complex and gave historical feedback.

Aram Avakian works in Yerevan as Sales Representative of United World Telecom company (FL, USA). Satenik Avakian is the Director of Papazian library in the American University of Armenia (AUA).

Having travelled in other communities they were specially happy to see the southernmost Armenian Church in the Arab World.

After their return to Armenia, Aram Avakian wrote the following message:

Satenik and me have already returned to Yerevan. The trip was very interesting: we saw many different places, met many people and learned a lot. Once again I would like to thank you for arranging our visit to the Armenian Church and adjacent institutions. It was so nice to meet father Aram and learn from him about the activities of the Armenian church and community.

Suggestion: As the Parev Emirates visits have become popular, we suggest the following:

1) To publish a colorful guide / brochure or booklet about the Armenian complex in several languages (English, Armenian, Arabic and Russian).

2) Train young members of the community on how to welcome Armenian and non-Armenian guests into the complex and show them around. The training should include also ways of introducing the Armenian culture and answering frequently asked questions on Armenian topics.

3) Involve the young members in preparing articles based on these encounters, thus creating opportunities for further enhancing their personlity, confidence and pride in presenting Armenian topics in the most appropriate form.

Dear Parents,

The Abu Dhabi Armenian School has the pleasure to unveil its plans for the preparation and publication of the school’s calendar for the academic year 2010.

As a change to last years, the theme of this year’s calendar will be prepared from pictures and drawings of Armenian topics. These drawings with Armenian theme and style will be prepared by all the students (including KG).

Therefore, we would like to ask parents to assist and encourage their children to prepare colored drawings (with any Armenian theme in A4 size paper) and submit them to their teachers by next Saturday (5th of December 2009).

Dr. Anwar Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Yerevan. 

On 05 December 2009, Dr. Gargash met Armen Gevorgyan, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, who welcomed the distinguished guest and his delegation, stressing the importance of exchanging visits between officials from both sides, along with the cooperation between the private sector businesses in the two countries.

This was the third high ranking visit of UAE official to Armenia this year. In March 2009, Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, UAE Foreign Trade Minister paid a three day visit to Armenia, while in June 2009, UAE's Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan made a stop in Yerevan, at the end of his grand diplomatic tour of Europe that covered 12 countries.

We are saddened to know that Ambassador Vahagn Melikian's mother has passed away in Yerevan on 25 November 2009 after a short struggle with cancer.

Condolences will be received at Ambassador's residence in Abu Dhabi on 10 and 11 December 2009, 7-10pm

Requiem for the rest of the soul of the deceased would be performed in Saint Nikolaos Church in Abu Dhabi, following the Holy Mass on 25 December 2009, 7-9pm

One of the youngest participants in the UAE national day safari organized by the Council of the Armenian Community in Sharjah and Northern Emirates.

Some 200 Armenians participated from all over UAE.

Kevork Sioufi, originally from Aleppo, resides in Abu Dhabi since 2001.

Singing was not something that Sioufi fancied at early age, but when he was 20 years old, he could not disregard the gradually growing interest.

November 2009 witnessed Kevork Sioufi's first step into the world of music recording, when he released his first audio album called "Shpatsur Ints" (Spoil Me).

The CD is made of 8 songs.

Ապու Տապիի Հայկական միօրեայ դպրոցը երկու շաբաթ ուշացումով նոր տարեշրջան մը սկսաւ՝ ամբողջովին նոր տնօրինութեամբ եւ վարչական կառոյցով: Բագրատ Պալապանեանը հրաւիրուեցաւ որպէս դպրոցի տնօրէն:
