The Yerevan State University (YSU) announces that starting from the academic year 2008 - 2009 students will be able to enroll at the newly formed "Chair of Western Armenian Language" within the Faculty of Armenian Philology.
The tuition would be US$ 1.100 yearly (or the equivalent).
The University undertakes to secure free residence permits for overseas students covering their period of study.
Currently, the monthly room rent for a moderate apartment in Yerevan equals US$ 200-250, while staying in University dormitory costs about 20.000 Armenian dram (equivalent of US$ 60).

The Faculty of Armenian Philology is one of the founding faculties of YSU. The now independent faculties of Oriental Studies, Romance and Germanic Philology, Russian Philology, and Journalism were formed from its basis.
The staff of this faculty has been composed of truly bright figures throughout all of its existence. Among them are many outstanding scientists worth mentioning, namely: Hakob Manandyan and Manouk Abeghyan, Hrachya Acharyan and Grigor Ghapantsyan, Simon Hakobyan and Arsen Terteryan. Famous armenologists M. Mkryan, S. Ghazaryan, G Sevak, H. Mamikonyan, S. Soghomonyan, Ed. Aghayan, Hr. Tamrazyan, Al. Margaryan, G. Jahoukyan have been their disciples.
Well-known scientists such as Academicians, Doctors H. Barseghyan, A. Souqiasyan, S. Galstyan, A. Sharuryan, V. Gabrielyan, H. Makhchanyan, L. Yezekyan, Kh. Badikyan, A. Papoyan, H. Edoyan, L. Hovsepyan, L. Mnatsakanyan, Jh. Kalantaryan, K. Aghabekyan, A. Haroutyunyan and others have continued their tradition. They have also made a great contribution to the development of all the branches of Armenology.
The faculty's graduates work in different educational and cultural institutions of the Republic of Armenian and the diaspora, promoting the further development of scientific life.
Many famous Armenian writers and pedagogues of native language and literature have once studied here. Among them are well-known writers Hovhannes Shiraz and Silva Kapoutikyan, Vahagn Davtyan, Paruyr Sevak, and others.
