Dear Azad-Hye subscriber
Our aim is to introduce to the wider public the activities of the Armenians in the Middle East, where more than half a million of our compatriots live, in some places even before the 1915 Genocide.
Although our focus is the Middle East, but we have a wider perspective and try to cover some pan- Armenian subjects.
In order to communication with the wider Arab population (who knows little about the Armenians as a nation, but has experienced Armenian presence and neighborhood for decades), we established our Arabic version at www.azad-hye.org
You can financially contribute to our project by placing a banner in the website.
We encourage you also to send news from your community (along with photos) to our e-mail address.

A shiny star ... Emmy |
|
She was born on April 12th 1984. During her childhood she had tasted Art in its different faces. Her parents are sculptor David Bejanian and singer Nadiejhda Sarkissian, who is also her manager and supervisor. Beside her solo career, she is one of the remarkable members of group "Hayer". When she is on stage, you can feel the strength of her voice. She has the ability to capture the audience and transfer all her emotions during the performance. A voice worth to be listened to and a series of talents need to be yet discovered. In spite of her small age, she held the title of "Best Female Singer" of year 2006 in the 4th Armenian National Music Awards. She is Emma Bejanian or simply Emmy. |

The Migration of Christians from Iraq, Iran and Jerusalem is a serious problem, says Aram I |
|
His Holiness Aram I held an interview with journalists from the F2 French TV station in Antelias on 11 September 2007. Several ecumenical and Armenian issues were discussed, including the presence of Christianity in the Middle East and the presidential elections in Lebanon.
Speaking about the Christian presence in the Middle East, the Pontiff describes it as a "presence mired by conflicts and challenges." He then asked: "When has Christianity not been so in its history in the region? A passive approach to this situation is not acceptable. Christianity is a witness and the witness is commitment and struggle. Christianity should organize itself with this spirit and vision." His Holiness said. The Catholicos pointed out that the migration of Christians from Iraq, Iran and Jerusalem is a serious problem. |

ARMENPAC mourns the passing of founding Board Member Jirair Hovnanian |
|
The Armenian-American Political Action Committee (ARMENPAC) mourns the passing away of Hovnanian
Jirair S. Hovnanian passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at his home in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, after 80 years of inspiring others to live their dreams. Whether you knew him for a day or for a lifetime, Jirair made a deep and lasting impression on everyone he met. His passion for life was contagious and he lifted the spirits and hopes of all he came in contact with. He lived for his wife Elizabeth, his sons Stephen and Peter and their families, and hundreds more in his extended family. He lived for his roses and his garden. He lived for his Armenian people, supporting their efforts both in America and abroad. He lived for his entrepreneurial projects, using his gift for navigating the global perspective to achieve things that many thought impossible. But most of all, he lived the American dream, and inspired so many others to do the same. |
