Ara SouvalianA message to Ara Souvalian
Barev Ara!
I don't know, if you remember me. Years ago you sent me your beautiful midi files. You are very generous in giving. I met you again in Azad-Hye pages, and in token of appreciation and to reciprocate for your donation, please find attached my song Hayastan* (submitted to the government of Armenia in July 2005, in contest choosing new national anthem of the Republic of Armenia).
I hope you enjoy the music.

Egyptian Armenian Almanac (Yekibdahay Daretsouyts) Friday, December 14, 2007
I receive Azad-Hye newsletters regularly and learn more about Armenians living in the Middle East, from where I have come.
Born in Beirut, studied in Cyprus, worked in Baghdad and have become the first Armenian family settled down in Abu Dhabi for 21 years.
This link is the preface of 1904 the first Daretsouyts of Egypt. Since you are going to present the Armenians of Egypt in the following issues of Azad-Hye, I thought, may be this will give some historical background about the Armenians in Egypt.
The Daretsouyts belongs to a friend. I am copying it for myself. There are many interesting biographies of Armenian VIPs of Egypt in the book. Unfortunately, the biographies do not have dates!
Shad sirov and wish you all success.

Dikran Abrahamian's website: Keghart Saturday, December 08, 2007
Keghart.com is a believer in diversity because nature abhors uniformity. In that sense it considers itself as a forum of free speech, a free stage if you wish, and welcomes people who espouse views which may not necessarily reflect what is acceptable or trendy.

* For many years Harut Sassounian has been in the forefront advocating for Armenian causes.  Whether people agree with him or not his ideas have travelled far and wide and are frequently the centre of discussions. The article Armenians Demand Justice, Not Recognition is a clear and concise platform for action.  While a handful of survivors of the Genocide are still alive, and the Diaspora communities are still empowered, there is an urgency to bring the demands to International bodies and courts.
* Armen Ayvazyan in his article entitled The Fundamentals of Armenian Identity or who is an Armenian, in addition to exploring issues of identity, argues that “Without Armenia, the Armenian Spyurk (Diaspora) cannot represent a nation.” Armenia faces threats from its neighbours and is not prepared to fulfill strategic tasks related to its security. Its existence is at stake. All our efforts should be geared towards strengthening Armenia economically, militarily and in the area of Democracy. This, the author concludes is the paramount concern.
* A newcomer is Alain. He is an entrepreneur living in New York. He is ardently devoted to Armenians and Armenian causes. His Film commentary on “The Lark Farm” By Paolo and Vittorio Taviani and his reflections upon watching the movie is his debut in Keghart.com

Catholic Armenians in Iraq ask for help Saturday, December 08, 2007
We received the following message in the Arabic section of Azad-Hye:
To the esteemed management of the website:
I am sending this message from the land of Mesopotamia, in belief that you would help me and my brothers and sisters in the Prelacy of Baghdad. We are in a very sad situation, especially in view of the current condition of our Church. This has occurred due to the supercilious attitude of Their Beatitudes Metropolitans. We are very much ignored. We are in a crisis situation. The members of our Church are approaching other denominations, different in language and dogma. We are without a priest or a pastor. They have abandoned us and if you do not believe us, ask those who have taken refuge in your countries or those who are now in Syria, especially in Aleppo.
Please make our voice reach those who are concerned and convey our extreme anger. Tell them about our profound sadness. We are borrowing priests to fulfill the rituals. Let the Patriarch know well about that. I hope he will regret for that.

Panos Titizian: A praiseworthy initiative Saturday, December 08, 2007
Panos Titizian from Los Angelos wrote about the ARF-Ramgavar joint conference which took place on 06 November 2007 in Ani Plaza Hotel in Yerevan describing it as a praiseworthy initiative.
"Certain sectors of the Armenian public opinion have the conviction, according to which our traditional parties were dividing factors, which separated us. But what happened in 06 November 2007 in Ani Plaza came to prove the contrary to the above mentioned mentality", said Titizian.
